They say go out there and travel the world. Oh, the things you will see, the things you will do and the people you will meet. They say travel changes you. Yes, it does.
Not because of all the above though. Rather because you will take time to tune in during all these experiences. Maybe not at first, because your head will still be stuck in your day to day life from before. Then, little by little, your carapace will crumble. Your old barriers will lower and you will open the door — to yourself. You will listen — to yourself. You will hear — what you feel.
This is how travel changes you. Or rather how it brings you back — to you.
But you have to give it a chance. It takes time and patience — it can hurt too at first. Be brave, hang in there. When all you want to do is run back home to hide under your blanket, try a little harder. You are progressing, this is why it may be hard at times. Pull through — what you will find on the other side is priceless.
And if you don’t make it, be kind to yourself. Maybe it wasn’t the time for you, yet. You can try again, whenever you want to. This is the beauty of travel: it will always be there — for you.
